His research interests include network performance evaluations and modeling, high-speed networks, and traffic analysis. He has published over 100 papers in conference proceedings, book chapters, and journals, such as IEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking, Computer Standards & Interfaces, Elsevier, Mathematical and Computer Modelling, Elsevier, Journal of Applied Intelligence, International Journal on Advances in Telecommunications, etc. Professor Gyires is the Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal on Advances in Networks and Services, IARIA and members of several technical program committees. He is an awardee of the Neumann Plaque by the John von Neumann Computer Society in Hungary. Professor Gyires has been the PI or Co-PI of numerous grants.
