The School of Information Technology provides premier undergraduate and distinguished graduate programs for the education of computing and networking professionals.

Our vision is to be the premier provider of information technology in the state of Illinois. Our mission is to develop highly competent professionals who contribute to and succeed in the rapidly evolving field of information technology through excellence in education and research.

Facilities

Courses are taught in classrooms utilizing Smart Classroom technology. Additionally, students have exclusive use of seven state-of-the-art microcomputer laboratories and a number of special use laboratories.

Lab Hours

The lab is closed on Saturdays and during university holidays, Thanksgiving break, and spring break.

  • Regular Hours
    (includes finals week)

    • Monday - Thursday: 8:00 a.m. - 10:45 p.m.
    • Friday: 8 a.m. - 3:45 p.m.
    • Sunday: 2 p.m. - 10:45 p.m.
  • Extended Hours
    (week before finals)

    • Sunday - Thursday: Close at 11:45 p.m.
    • Friday: Close at 3:45 p.m.
  • Summer Hours

    OU213D and OU116 are available via card access.

  • Accreditation and Designation

    The Information Systems and Computer Science programs at Illinois State are accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET.

    The School of IT at Illinois State is home to the Center for Cybersecurity Research and Education (CCRE), which is designated as a Center of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity by the National Security Agency (NSA).
