Accelerated General Computer Science Sequence

The Accelerated General Computer Science Sequence is a pathway into the master's program in Computer Science. Accelerated degree programs offer high-achieving students the opportunity to complete the Master of Science in Computer Science (MSCS) in as little as one additional year of study. Undergraduate students majoring in Computer Science may apply to the accelerated master's degree program. Students accepted into the sequence take graduate courses (up to 12 hours) during their junior and senior years. Classes count towards both the undergraduate and graduate programs in computer science.

Apply to the Accelerated Sequence

You must have a 3.20 GPA or higher to apply to the General Computer Science program.

When: Apply to the accelerated program the spring semester of your sophomore year or two years before you intend to graduate.

Deadlines:

  • February 25
  • May 20
  • September 25
  • December 18

Accelerated General Computer Science students taking graduate courses must follow all policies and guidelines set forth in the Graduate Catalog pertaining to their performance and progress toward the degree.

To graduate in this sequence, you must take at least one course for graduate credit.

Apply to the Graduate School

As a student in the accelerated program, you’ll formally apply to the Graduate School and Computer Science graduate program. Enrollment in the accelerated sequence does not guarantee final admission in the graduate program. Admission is limited and based on space availability and competitiveness of the applicant pool.

When: Apply to the graduate program the spring of your senior year.
