An internship experience (IT 498) for graduate students is optional.

When to Get an Internship

Complete at least 18 credit hours before registering for IT 498.

Attend the IT Internship Fair

The School puts on an internship fair every year in September. Check your email around this time for more information.
Use the Career Center

The Career Center at Illinois State provides you with career development and employer connections. They also put on a career fair every fall and spring. Attend a fair and meet employers with internship opportunities.

After you get hired for an internship, send the following items to the graduate advisor for approval.

Job description
IT 438 Registration form
An employment confirmation letter on company letterhead with your name, start date, and end date of employment (on-campus internship supervisors can send an email to confirm your employment)

You'll get an email once everything is confirmed.

Spring and Fall Semesters: Register by 4 p.m. on Friday of the second full week of classes

Summer Session: Register by 4 p.m. on the first Monday in June

Students enrolled in Professional Practice receive one credit hour for each semester on a C/NC basis. The credit does not count towards your degree.
